Baby crying in her sleep - help?

My 9 month old baby has been crying in her sleep for almost two weeks now. Mostly giving her back her dummy sorts it, but sometimes I need to stroke her head or even pick her up for a while. This happens several times a night, and she is fast asleep the whole time.

The crying seems to get louder if I try and leave her for a few minutes, has anyone got any ideas as to what could be causing this? And what I can do to help? She's not hungry nor cold nor wet.

Could she be awake and wanting comfort but too sleepy to open her eyes? My DD was screaming in her sleep to the point we were up 6 times a night but as soon as she started sleeping through it stopped.

You may be right. It's very new, I'm afraid I'm one of those lucky parents who's baby slept well from day 1. It's no fun though, seeing her cry while sleeping.

Dd is nearly 11 months and does this sometimes. She talks in her sleep too. I have always interpreted it as her dreaming and the reason she stops when I go in to her is because my touching her brings her sufficiently out of a dream state to quieten her but not wake her up iyswim.

Hello, It could be night terrors. My DS had them while he was teething about that age, before that he was, and you'll be pleased to know still is an excellent sleeper. They do grow out of them. It's horrifick at the time, but they do ease up.

Could try bonjella before bed time if it is teething ?!
