Help to get him to stay in bed....

DH been desperate to get DS2 into his bed and out of his cot(freeing up garage space), not sure it helps really as we are storing cot for his sister who is trying for another, so could be some while yet Smile.
Anyway DS is only 19 months old and will not stay in his bed. This is a right PITA because he won't have his pm nap in the bed and we are currently sitting in his room with him while he goes to sleep at night. Every time we leave the room he gets out of his bed, he doesn't cry when we put him back and he stays there so long as one of us is there.
So any advice? Any products Hmm we could buy to help us?
I know we have moved him too early but not sure going back to the cot is the right thing to do.

Just keep putting him back. No talking just put him back, tuck him in and leave. repeat endlessly for a few nights. He will get the idea that it's not worth getting out of bed as he isn't getting attention

i would totally go back to the cot.
he is far to young to understand that he has to stay in his bed. so while I am sure that eventiually it will work, it'd just be easier all round to keep him in the cot.

not sure - both my dd and ds were in a cotbed with sides until they were over three!

had to move dd2 to a bed at 20mths due to her climbing out of cot, falling and breaking her arm. took over 2 mths for her to settle into a bed as she kept getting out but cried with it too. persevered with controlled crying and constantly putting her back. It took approx 1 hour every night we shut the bedroom door each time. she couldn't open the door either

DS was in a bed at 20months btw.

DH has reminded me that DS2 managed to climb out of his cot a couple of days ago so the garage space is definitely not the issue....
Will keep just putting him back for the time being, pleased Choufleur thinks we are on the right lines. Am just a bit worried about next week when DH will not be here, as he will be working on the late shift, to help me with all three DCs.
