To shoe or not to shoe?

This is my first post and would like some advice please. My 10 1/2 month old DS has been walking very well by himself for a few weeks now so I thought I should get him some shoes, DH disagrees as we don't go outside an awful lot at the moment and he would prefer it if DS didn't wear shoes. But I thought they were supposed to wear shoes if they had started walking?
DS does wear socks indoors and those soft leathery things when we go outside to keep warm. Should I wait a bit longer to get DS some shoes or does he need them now?

I've only put my dcs in shoes when they've needed them for walking outside. If he's going to be walking outside then I'd get hime some, would seem unfair to be keeping him in the buggy if he wants to get out for a run around. You can get some lovely soft first walker type ones.

Childrens shoes are expensive and don't last very long at all so I would actually agree with your DH.

My ds1 had leather soled socks for outside for as long as we could get away with it and it was fine.

When the weather starts getting a bit better and you're going outside more, you can get him some (properly fitted obviously) sandals. They'll protect his feet outdoors and generally last a bit longer too I found.

I would put it off until the weather is a bit better and you're outside more. Can't see any benefit to buying them now tbh.

I was told they should be walking for at least six weeks before going in to shoes though I'm not sure if this is true or not.

Clarks do shoes for new walkers. Two of mine preferred to be barefoot most of the time - even if it was snowing outside and freezing cold they'd still have removed any shoes and/or socks.

Thank you. I will certainly wait a bit longer now. This does mean however that I have to tell DH he is right. xx
