potty training and GP's

odd situation...

my DD is no where near ready to potty train, show none of the signs she's 2.6yo. and im fine with that.

she goes to her GP's on a monday,i am very grateful for this, and i want to stress this point!

it does however make this situation a little awkward, and im not even sure im right!

so i need some advice from you lot!

if nappy changing or potty or toilet are mentioned at home, she totally freaks out, screams cry's,tantrums, sometimes she would sit on happily, but she'd never pee or poo.

at Grandpas house however, she goes on the toilet,he holds her ears and she poo's and pee's quite often...

its odd right?!
what am i doing wrong?!
we've always just offered or let her go if she asks,we read books etc...

so i thought it best to completely stop.
and start again in a month or two when she seems more ready.

except that ive asked him three times and he still came back today triumphant that she'd peed on the toilet whilst he was holding her ears?!

so am i wrong to stop her at GP's?
if not what can i say to make them stop at theirs?

n.b. Her GP's are very very lovely, maybe just slightly forgetful....he has also set up large bank accounts for both DC's and obviously loves them both to bits.its just this is all a bit odd,and im not sure where im going wrong

Sorry no advice here, but - 'holds her ears'? Have you asked him if he's spoken to her about going on the toilet, and why her ears have anything to do with it?

Maybe he's made up a little story or something about her ears? Confused

I don't get why you want her to stop at the GPs. If she is happy to use the toilet there then let her, sounds good to me actually, much more likely that she will move on to nappy free everywhere else too without a fuss.

ditto iskra, certainly wouldn't try and stop her from using toilet as that just draws negative attention to subject.

try and get to see how she toilets at gps, ie encourage, praise and cajole and watch what they do. that might give you an indicator on how to proceed.

thanks,
they ask,she says no,and they say,oh come on,on you get,and then they hold her head with their hands over her ears,i watched once, cant say i liked it...seemed...odd.

nope no stories about ears just 'helps her really push' ?!

i thought you shouldnt push?
