Bunk beds

DS will be going into his first bed soon. He is almost 2. We ideally want to get bunk beds so that his (box) room can be shared with DD when we have visitors staying in her room (probably about once per month).

Was wondering whether DD (4.5) will be old enough to go on top bunk?

Am also thinking of coming up with some method to stop DS (who is a climber) trying to make it onto the top bunk when DD isn't using it! Noticed in IKEA that they had put a piece of perspex zip-tied onto the ladder, which seemed to stop any LOs getting onto the top bunk.

What do you think?

i think at 4.5 she'd be ok as long as you're sure she'd make it down the ladder ok in the night if she needed a wee, or wanted to come and find you?

this may be difficult if you put perspex over it!!!

sounds like a plan Smile

Ha! - was only planning to put something over the ladder when only DS was using the bottom bunk. Although maybe DD would like a slide down a perspex ladder!!!!!

We just put ds, who is also 4.5, in a bunk bed. He seems to be managing fine on the top. We were hoping dd would go into the bottom but she is refusing at the moment. Anyway, his bunk has a removable ladder, which could be useful to stop your little one climbing during the day.
