Is my 14 week old teething?

Hello Everyone,

My first time posting so please bare with me ;)

My DD is 14 weeks old and is constantly chewing on her hands or a muslin cloth, she also uses a dummy. She only dribbles slightly and occasionally has red cheeks. She doesn't have a temperature.

She is off her food and really quite grumpy, when I do manage to get a feed down her (bottle fed) she seems to be quite sick. It is worrying me that she eats so little as she was prem and jaundice and struggled to feed when she was born.

She was recently at the doctors for a check up on something else and he said she could be teething, but just would like some advice really.

Have tried calpol, dentinox gel and nelsons teetha powder which only pacify her for a short period of time, she doesn't understand teething rings yet as have tried her with them,

Would be grateful of any advice, Thanks.

It is entirely possible, after all a small percentage of babies are born with a tooth or two!!

Lots of chewing, dribbling and red cheeks are usually a sign of teething especially if bub is well in herself. Doesn't necessarily mean a tooth will come through straight away, my DS showed teething symptons from around 16 weeks but his first tooth didn't appear until he was 9.5months!

Thanks KaraStarbuckThrace I can handle the grumpiness of it all and the sleep deprivation, I just really worry about her not wanting to feed, she has always had a small apetite but its getting worse :(

She is weighed fortnightly and is steadily putting on weight, god knows how! It's been going on since she hit 10 weeks.

Awww Smile It's hard when they get like this!

Have you tried giving her smaller feeds more frequently? She may be a snacker rather than a guzzler. It might be worth putting a thread in bottle/breastfeeding to ask about the being sick - maybe a different teat would help, but I didn't bottlefeed so I'm not really an expert in this area, sorry Blush

Anbesol is good for teething - as it is a liquid it absorbs better on the gums than teething gels which can just slide off, think it lasts longer as well.

Thanks again, will have a go with Anbesol, have tried al different teats, to no avail :(
