What toys does your 4-5 yr old ds play with?

Just asking because last night we had a new school friend over for tea. On the way from school to the car he was excited saying to ds 'what toys have you got, have you got Superman, have you got Spiderman?'.

We don't have any of these toys so I thought 'oh no!' - all was well and he didn't particularly look for them when he got here - they played really nicely with the stuff we do have (then not so nicely trashing the bedding upstairs! ho hum - there's a group of boys for you!!)

So anyway, I guess what I'm asking is, do most 4-5 yr old boys have these Spiderman toys etc? Ds1 is the eldest so he's not influenced by older children (yet!) so we are still on wooden railway, cars and garage, jigsaws etc. Tbh, we are out most of the time so they aren't sitting around playing with toys that much anyway.

So, what does your ds like to play with?

my 4 year old is completely unaware of any of those type of things - no idea what spiderman is, or thunderbirds, scoobydoo, batman or anything else.

He is not one for following the her - just likes his own ideas more.

He is obsessed with tractors and combines and silage and muck (what he sees going on around us) - the only brand he knows are farm machinery ! He is also into building because we are having an extension built.

He likes lego, and brio, and books, and just in the last few weeks (influence of school) drawing.

But most of all he likes running around making lots of noise !
