Another mum says ds is hitting her son at playtime, ds says it's the other way round

Arrrgh, how do I deal with this?

DS and Cameron started reception at the same time, and were mates at first. When DS was moved up to year 1 at easter, Cameron wasn't and their relationship seems to have changed a bit. They are now both in year 1 (seperate classes tho').

over the last week ds has mentioned a couple of times that Cameron comes up to him at playtimes and interferes with his games, sometimes hit's him.
When I collected ds from school yesterday, Cameron's mum fvollowed me to the car, and said that DS has been hitting Cameron, every day. DS tells me that he hasn't (I suspect it's 6 of one, half a dozen of the other).
Trouble is that Cameron is much smaller than ds, not quite as bright, and a bit of a 'born victim' (his mum makes him wear a bobble hat pulled down over his ears, cos he's always been sickly). I also think that Cam may think it's fun to get ds into trouble (altho I know ds isn't a saint)
I have told ds to keep out of Cam's way, but he says Cam comes to find him, and thumps if ds ignores him. I have told ds to tell a teacher if this happens.

Should I talk to his class teacher? What do I say?

talk to the teacher, dd1 came home from nursery once saying her best riend kept hitting her. i spoke to the teachers, they said it was a case od jealously on the friends part, if my dd1 played with anyone else then the friend would get stropping and hit, but then soemtimes my dd1 hit her. i let them work it out themselves. ask the teacher to keep an eye on the 2 if possible.

Cam still wants to play with DS, doesn't he, and it's not reciprocated, that sounds like the problem. You can't make DS want to play with him, and his mother is always going to be protective and assume he is the innocent party.

I think I would speak to the teacher, explain what appears to be going on, and ask if whoever is on playground duty can keep an eye out for the two of them.

did you tell other mum what your DS said?

I would agree with getting the school involved

Yes I did tell the other mum that ds said Cam was hitting him.

We both told our boys to keep away from each other at playtime.

How about both of you going to see the teacher at the same time- and just say we don't know what's going on, they're winding each other up- please can they be supervised closely/kept apart.
