My son was 2 year's old in september, he was a very later walker only started to walk july this year.

He has only started to let me put shoe's on him, but the eal problem i have is he will not go outside and walk only in the house and other's people's houses.

He refuses to walk outside, anyone with any suggestion's. I have also let him stand outside and cry, he will still be in the same place as i left him and still be crying. It's a shame as he will not evan go in the garden and play.

Musa - so glad to hear that your ds is finally walking! Just yet another word of reassurance - it took a while for my dd to consider walknig outside and specifically - she took a real aversion to walking on grass initially. I think this is probably just a phase as it's something 'new' but hopefully, it will pass.

give him a chance! He's only been walking for 3 months. Walking inside in familiar surroundings and soft carpet to land on is far easier than walking in the big scary garden. Why not take him outside to play, with a mat, and some of his toys and have some fun with him. He might then realise that the garden isn't scary. If you put him outside and leave him, it isn't surprising that he starts to cry.

Sorry if this sounds a little harsh, but I think you're expecting a bit too much of him.

I have to agree with Tissy - walking is still very new to him, and it must feel very strange. He probably just needs to build up his confidence on different surfaces now, and it will be difficult for him to do that without you there to support him.

DS is 18mo and has really only just started walking. He's not keen on shoes, and I'd not leave him outside to walk atm either - too scary, the big world when you're that little and have just learnt a new skill, especially one with painful crash-landings if you get it wrong!

hunkerpumpkin · 13/10/2005 12:36

DS also not keen at all on grass

bobbybob · 14/10/2005 08:31

And another spooky way in with hunkermunker and myself are similar - now even out ds's a walking and having grass aversions at the same age.

As for the shoe thing - well Hunker if you'd put him in Nike trainers when he was 2 weeks old he wouldn't be rejecting them now!
