Teething - back teeth first?

Just wondering whether anyone else's baby has started teething with their back teeth first? DS is 6 months old and showing signs of teething. I've noticed that he's always pushing teething toys and his spoon when feeding far to the right of his mouth and chewing on them. He was vigorously chewing on my finger today with his back right gums. I noticed a rough irregular bit on his bottom right gum at the back where he was chewing - seems like there's a tooth coming through there. I know the front bottom teeth normally come first but is this also normal?

Yup. According to my dentist teeth come in whatever order they feel like.

My son got his back side, then his top, then his bottom. He's still got 4 to go near the front!

Don't know how normal it is but my DD got 3 back teeth before she got any front ones. She didn't have any teeth until she was 14 months. They all look fine now at 20 months - just a few at the top front and the big molars to come I think.

My dd did this so I phoned my dad (who's a dentist) in a panic that she would never get her front teeth. He peed himself laughing and explained that babies who get their teeth in the text book order are the rarity. Good luck with the teething!

Oh thanks that's good to know. I've been examining his front gums regularly as he was showing all the signs of teething but it was only today I realised maybe they were coming through at the back!

Baby is only 2 months old and is biting hands and very unsettled, I have noticed this, could it be a tooth already?
