hypnotherapy

I am taking my 10 yr old daughter to see a hypnotherapist for the first time.
I decided to do this after reading about an actress on Tv who said it had helped her in her life so well. Her mother took her along and it erased her feelings of shyness and self doubt.
My daughter too lacks confidence and is very shy, she loves to dance and sing but won't do it infront of anyone except me, which is such a shame as she really is good!
We have tried lots of activities outside of School but she has not wanted to join any at all, next year she goes to the Big School i am hoping this will give her the confidence boost she needs to live her life more happily.
The lady who i am going to see is fully trained in the holistic aproach and although it is pricey £60 an hour i have been told it will only take one or two sessions at the max.
Has anyone else any experience of hypnotherapy i would be interested to hear.
Positive thoughts only please !

Found it effective but my therapist was reluctant to work on young kids as they react differently to adults. They tend to go into a very deep trance, deeper than adults and this can be alarming when witnessed.

i was hypnotised aged 15...

i got stuck in the trance and slept almost constantly for a week (when i was taken back to re hypnotised and re woken)

It was all done properly under the NHS in the main hospital.

i wont be having it again and will certainly not let my children have it after the way it affected me.

Well today was a big day, and it worked amazingly my daughter came out of there literally skipping along the street !
She hasnt stopped smiling ! The therapist said it could take a few days to work and to see a differance and i am totally blown away with how she has reacted.I will wait to see if she wil nedd one more session but fingers crossed i think this has worked , very pleased!
Apprently children are more open to the idea of hypnotherapy and it is easier to treat a child than it is an adult.
There was nothing trance - like or sinister about it and i was there the whole time, and it was all about relaxing the body and then the mind and tapping into the subconcious, also i think the key is you have to want to change things within yourself for it to work....
I would recommend it to anyone young or old, the lady was well educated, kind, patient and explained everything before hand,of course it is important to make sure if you are going to go down this route that a professionaly registered hypotherapist is sought.

Hi tigertiger09

So pleased the sessions went well. I am a therapist specialising in working with children and hypnosis is a wonderful tool, really helps with confidence and self esteem and kids really enjoy the experience.

nanny1 - there is NO WAY that someone can 'get stuck' in trance! I question why it was used in a hospital and what for. No one can control you or put you to sleep
