Night time tummy pain

I would really appreciate some advice for my 5 week old little boy. Generally he is a peaceful chappy but every night he wakes up crying as he fills his nappy. It appears to hurt him as he strains to go to the toilet. We are not sure if this is normal or whether we should get this looked into. We do use infacol for wind etc and the content of his nappy seems quite normal. Many thanks.

As long as he is having the correct number of pooey/wet nappies, then I'm sure he just has tummy ache as he fu=ills his nappy.

However, if you're at all concerned, then take him to GP. They really won't mind in the slightest and if they moan and make you feel as though you are wasting their time, don't give them a second thought.

Are you BF or FF? If formula, it may just be he's a bit constipated. If so, then you could give him a teaspoon of fresh orange juice or prune juice in coll, boiled water to see if it helps.

Thanks for the quick response and advice. yep - he's on formula. We will give it a go :)

I did baby massage with DS 1 and she recommended putting some almond oil on your hands and gently rubbing their tummies in a clockwise circular motion with almond oil. It gets the bowel moving apparently. I do it to myself when feeling a bit bunged-up ;0)

You could also change to a different formula to see if that makes a difference. Don't be fooled by the formula for 'hungrier babies' either - it's all a scam Wink
