Am interested to know if anyone identified any suggested signs/symptoms of autism in their new borns/babies - and if so what they were?

My ex maintains that ds made poor eye contact from new born, ds has asd but I not remember this. Although this could be that I was very strongly engaged always in his face Grin with him. When I told the Paed about this she said that I had done early intervention with ds without realising it and it had been a Good Thing. This has always been a comfort to me since he was diagnosed.

in hindsight...lol

poor eye contact, feeding problems - both supposed to be signs, didn't notice them at the time. When DS was being assessed it was noted that although in general he had poor eye contact that wasn't the case when talking to me, in fact he looks at me when he's talking to other people too, so I hadn't noticed it was an issue. The feeding I assumed was my problem, didn't ever occur to me it might be him till he was a lot older.

oh - the startle reflex, he was constantly doing it, everything made him jump, lol

only in hinesight
Bowel problems, lack of eye contact, too content (dd2) and screaming always when held (dd1), pushing herself off me when trying to breastfeed, and love of routines.
