My DD is 2.2, and is driving me crazy!!!

First she wants something, then it's wrong, so she want's it slightly different, or a different one, then she doesn't want it, then she does!! (This all happened over a simple piece of bread this morning!!!)

I firstly try to deviate the situation before a tantrum starts (I can't always, in fact, i can't most of the time!!)

Next i try to calm it down before it gets too bad (again, i fail)

Then i try to ignore it (This I CAN do!!!)

But it goes on, and on, and on, for so long that I have to do something, as I can't ignore it anymore!
She actually lost her voice at the weekend, for all the screaming, and me ignoring her for so long!

Any advise please???????????

Alas it goes on for some time, years!

A cuddle can help defuse a tantrum.

Avoid giving too many choices. Keep things as simple as possible - toast is either in triangles or squares.

Ah, I remember those days. My eldest (now an angelic seven year old...) could tantrum for England at that age. He once screamed for four hours over a toy car, fell asleep at 7pm, slept for 12 hours, and then woke up and started again with his first breath of the day!

Thing to remember is not to take it personally, and end up getting dragged into a blazing row.

Completely agree with nannynick - keep it simple, no more than two choices, stay as calm as possible, and lots of cuddles and hugs.

It will pass.

Thank you!

It just seems that it's me!
It's only when there is me and her at home that she throws the tantum!!

If anyone lese is at home (even DH), or we're out, she's great!

It's so hard at times!

I'm definatly not giving too many choices - sometimes she doesn't even get a choice!!

At least she has it the right way round. I'd far rather have a tantrum at home, than in the middle of the weekly shop:)
