I am sure my 21month old Daughter is having night terrors she is waking once in the night screaming and really upset after 10mins cuddles she goes back off until morning but just wondering if there are any suggestions of stopping these. I have done all the usual keep the room light, move teddies from cot....

Any suggestions welcome x

My 23 month DD has just started with them too. I've read a little about them and they do seem to be terrrs rather than nightmares. I have a nightlight in her room now but haven't heard anything about teddies, am I meant to take it away? That won't be popular!

So I'm afraid no advice but will eagerly watch for and advice from others.

hiya, my six month old had one for the first time last week - scared my DH silly - he was thrashing about, screaming, eyes open but unseeing... went on for about 10 mins, then we woke up happy as larry as if nothing had happened. So far it's only happened once but I looked online after the first one, and found some advice that suggested if it's a pattern (ie at the same time of night daily she has a terror) then setting an alarm and gently waking her 15 mins before it's about to happen, giving her a little drink or cuddle to make sure she's properly awake, then resettling her to bed should break the cycle. Do the waking up 7 nights in a row and they apparently go away. I've not had to try it yet though.

It happens because they fall into a heavy sleep too quickly, so by setting a new sleep cycle pattern the theory is that it should stop happening! HTH - good luck

Nina thanks for that, unfortunately DD isn't predictable time-wise. Its always withing the first 2-3 hours of sleep but not predictable to do that. I wonder if they do go away, it'd be great if it does work. If you try it come back and let us know!
