Toddler goes rigid when nappy changed

Hi,

My new nursery has just told me that my son (17 months) goes rigid when having his nappy changed by them. They say he looks scared. He's not like that with me or my husband in fact he kicks, steals the nappy, steals the wipes and is generally normal and boisterous (sp?).

Do you think there is anything weird about that? I ask because I had some disquiet about the nanny share I was in before this. Nothing definite but my son was never happy going with her and used to run away and hide behind the sofa when she arrived and I think she may have been taking him to her flat when I was at work at which her boyfriend lived....

Anyway I'm probably letting myself get carried away here so it would be great if you could put my mind at rest.

Thanks

Where do they change him? Ds2 (15 months) is fine on the floor, but is terrified of those pull down changing tables you get and reacts in much the same way.

Yeah it is a pull down one I think.....and I have to say that when I change him out and about on those he doesn't seem happy but he doesn't appear rigid with fear.

However that may well be it. Thanks.
