Advice needed - would you mention this to the parents?

My DD's best friend (they are both 10) had a few problems with a boy in her class last year. He was always asking her to be his girlfriend and sending her cards and presents, and this was encouraged by his parents who thought it was all a good laugh.

The girl's parents (who are good friends of ours) didn't agree as they thought it was too young to be encouarging boyfriends/girlfriends, they should just be friends without the pressure of these so called labels. It all came to a head when they received a message on their phone from the boy saying he 'wanted to sex their DD up' Shock. Parents were livid, the girl was crying as she didn't want them to speak to boy or his parents, didn't want any upset so they agreed to leave it that time if she stayed away from him as much as possible and told him not to call her or send her cards, presents etc. They basically let her deal with it, at her own request. All has been fine since then as far as they know.

I picked both girls up from school earlier this week and as we were leaving this boy ran up to friend and asked for a hug, she dismissed him with a wave and he grabbed hold of her and gave her a bear hug and stroked her back. She was laughing and eventually pulled away, other kids were taking the mickey. In the car I asked her what that was all about, given the history of this boy and the phone message etc. She laughed and said he was her boyfriend but begged me not to tell her parents as they would go mad.

Just innocent fun or more to it? Would you want to know? I instantly though yes, I would but DH thinks I'm making a mountain out of a molehill which suprised me as if it was one of our DD's I'm sure he wouldn't like it one little bit.

Meant to add I have casually quizzed my DD this week about this but she just shrugs and laughs, so I haven't got much from her.

It's all so innocent at that age. My kids had boyfriends and girlfriends at that age, and all they did was knock around with each other in the playground and maybe have a hug, but as you said, other kids take the mickey. The initial message from the boy would be him not knowing quite what it meant - Iknow in our school playground, they just thought that it meant a cuddle or kiss.

I assume DD's best friend comes over to play? I would talk to her about it and take it from there. My first concern would be whether she was happy with this situation or not.
