my 6mth old using cot as climbing frame!

help, i used to swaddle my 5.5mth dd until recently as she seems to just escape, but now she has learnt to roll over, she just rolls and grabs the sides of the cot to pull her self up to the top, or she will pull herself over to sleep face down (which scares me that she cant breath) or she gets arm or foot caught inbetween struts, this obviously wakes her up evry time she bangs the side,, so literally when she used to sleep through the night, im up about 5 to 10 times trying to put her back in the middle on her back, but she rolls straight back over, any ideas how to prevent this?? be much appreciated :)

No idea how to prevent it I'm afraid. DS rolled from 9 weeks and from then on we took bets on where we would find him when we went up to bed. Always face down but he could be pointing any which way. Once he was neatly folded into the corner.

We took the view that once he was strong enough to move about like that he was strong enough to roll out of trouble if he needed to. He's now 7 months and can pull himself up to standing in the cot which adds a new
dimension. I would say just make sure you keep lowering the base/ raising the sides so he definitely can't get out and turn your monitor sensitivity on full so you can hear when he moves and check on him if need be.

She, sorry

I'm afraid ths totally normal :o

Try nto to worry about the face down thing, now that she can move freely she will get into a position that is comfy and she is strong enough to roll over if she needs to!

Grobags (cheapo ones are fine) are a help with regards to getting legs stuck in bars but arms are just part of growing I think LOL. I am sure we had atleast 2 situations where we thought we were going to have to either break DS arm or saw the cot off of him Shock, luckily there was no need for either in the end!

When she hits herself on the side try leaving her for a few minutes even though she is crying, again DS used to cry but not wake up so you might be able to save yourself the hassle.

You could try a breathable bumper, they don't have the suffocation risk which normal bumpers have and cover all 4 sides of the cot so stop arms getting stuck. I have this one - www.safedreams.co.uk.
