Cot Bed sides down = trouble!

Ok, so here's the thing. My DD1 is 2 years and 2 months. She isn't walking yet and we've now found out that this is because she has hyper flexibility. That's not really the issue. The issue is that we need to get her into a bed without rails as when we go and stay with friends or grandparents she is far too big for the travel cot - she currently sleeps in a cot bed. Last night we decided to try her without the rails on and at bedtime she was beside herself with excitement - we even had to forgo the bath as she didn't want to get out of bed. So it all seemed hunky dory until about 9.30pm she screamed for me and that was it.

the trouble is, recently she has been waking in the night (last two upper molars are coming through) and I have been setting up camp next to her cot so that we can both go back to sleep. This has now lead to her screaming and only wanting me - my DH doesn't get a look in! This is what happened last night and I had to set up camp from about 10pm until this morning.

She is sleeping in a duvet - I spent a fortune on those grobag ones that zip to the bottom sheet, but she didn't like this as she didn't have enough room to move around. So I unzipped one side.

Anyway, sorry long winded story. I'd like some advice on the following:

  1. should I wait until these teeth have come through and she is sleeping through the night again and put the rails back until then.
  1. Should I persevere and see how she gets on for the next few nights?

FYI when we put her down for her sleep this morning, she screamed and screamed and ended up sleeping on the carpet.

Help please for a waffling exasperated mother!!!

Hi, do you have a bedguard? My son is the same age and we converted his cot into a bed, and as they are quite big, I think they can feel a little 'lost' in them.

We did originally try this 6 months ago, but he just wouldnt settle, so we decided to ditch the idea, wait til he was a little older and try again, fortunatly it worked this time.

It depends on how soon you need her to be in a proper bed, may be worth perservering with her and see if it improves, and be consistent with whatever you do, and dont give in to her too easily. We did controlled crying and it really helped us.
