Teeth Grinding!

In the name of god how do you stop it?????

Is it herediatry? I have to kick gently wake DH several times a night for doing it, now I can't have a morning cuddle in bed with DD as she grinds her fecking teeth all the time!!

Apart from the fact the noise goes right through me, what will it be doing to her poor wee teeth!

She is 11 months and only has 9 teeth but honestly you should hear the noise she can make!

Any wise words?

Gabity, no wise words but was planning on looking this up today as DD grinds her teeth like mad at night (she's 3 yrs). Apparently she gets it from me Hmm

So, just marking my place in case someone has any advice.

I don't know how dentists deal with it in children so young tbh, but I'd seek advice sooner rather than later.

I have to wear a lower gumshield after grinding my teeth for years. The tops of my bottom front teeth are worn away exposing the dentine (makes them appear yellow) and I chipped one of the top front two last year which cost me ££s to have filled.

Definitely go and talk to a dentist about this. Milk teeth are very soft and you don't want her grinding them away too quickly.

Will do, she first saw dentist at 6 months and i'm sure they said they would send out an appointment in another 6 months so any time soon.

God it is awful! Has your daughter always done it rindercella ?

Your dh can get a night guard from the dentist, mine does a night guard for about £60. It won't stop him grinding his teeth but it will make it less noisy.

Rindercella · 13/01/2011 10:49

Gabity, she does it on and off. I am only more aware that she does it now as she and her 9 month old sister now share a room and so when I go & feed DD2 in the early hours I can hear DD1 grinding away at her teeth.

Trip to the dentist soon I think.

eeurgghh its like someone rubbing together two bits of flint. Makes the back of my legs ache when I hear my DS2 grinding away. We're due a visit to the dentist and I was going to ask him. Not sure how old they have to be to have night guards?

prozacpopsie · 13/01/2011 13:20

OMG - my DS does this and it drives me mental. The noise is awful - the worst noise you can imagine.

My husband is a teeth grinder too and wears a guard as his teeth are so badly ground-down.

Do people think I should raise the issue with the dentist - about my DS?

Thanks

PP

Definitely PP, it's so much more than just the annoying noise!
