Does your LO do or say anything really amazingly bizarre? My DS is turning into Rainman!

DS1 is 3 years 2 months old and he is so much fun just now as he is really chatting and being really funny (ha ha) at times. He has shown an interest in numbers and letters for a while but within the past few days he has come out with this...

-I slipped on the ice yesterday and he said 'you slipped on number 22 mummy' and when I looked in my diary I realised that 22 Dec was the day that I fell holding both DS's coming out of nursery.
-he said Santa came to nursery on number 21 (yes, Santa came to nursery on 21st Dec)
-he then said he saw Santa at the garden centre on number 13 (yes, we went to the grotto on the 13th Dec!)

  • he also counted to 130 with no prompting the other day!

I just think it's amazing cos I can't remember what I did a week ago let alone what date we actually visited Santa!!!

DD now aged 9.8 remembers the most astonishing things in vivid detail. Some are false memories, Pod the dog died before she was born but she swears she remembers him pumping. Others are not false. She can recall my mobile phone number from Thailand (five years ago), she knows my CC number off by heart Angry and she often recalls things that either me or DH have forgotten.
I wish I had her memory.

With a memory like that, they'll have no problems passing exams!

130!? My DS 3.5 can manage about 15!

I'm not worried he has autism as he has no other signs of it, it is just so bizarre some of the things he comes out with! He said this morning that we were at the hospital with daddy on number 3 and yes we all went to the hospital on the 3rd jan as dh broke his ankle that day!

Yes here. My DS2 (who is 3 and 8 months) figured out on his own that 10 X 10 made 100. He can count up to 100 + without problems. He can add and substract. IE. if we walk down the road he'll spot the house numbers (he has been able to identify all numbers since he was 12 months old and all two and three digit number since he was about 3) and he'll go 'look mummy, 138' - yes darling, 138. 'look mummy, 136' yes darling, 136. 'Next one will be 134!!

The first time he did this he was about 3 years old.

I am not joking, and we are not pushy parents at all.

How cool. Do you have a calendar up on which he can look at dates, in the kitchen or somewhere?

ilikeyoursleeves · 12/01/2011 15:45

I just bought him his own calender that he can change every day & he loves it, he spends the whole day telling us what day it is today & what day it will be tomorrow. Other than that there is nothing hanging up that would remind him of things he's done the weeks before.
