tis very sweet. cold is "brrr", sleep is "ish". Move out of the way is "mummy beep beep" . She understands everything and is stringing her words together in 3-4 word sentences.I'm just a bit concerened that she just does not speak the words she hears.

My younger brother had a whole other language around 2 - 80+ words entirely invented by himself. Middle brother often had to interpret for him (even to rest of family!). My Mum is gutted she didn't write them down (I guess at the time it seemed commonplace). The only one I remember was 'eddas' for horses.

DS (19 months) has lots - his monkey is an 'oo oo', his doggy is a 'fff fff', and when he does something very clever (in his own mind..) he says it is 'avar', in a tone of great triumph.

oh i loved this stage.. do write them down because when they start using real words you forget.. ive already forgot alot of what my dd said but heres a few from my son.

Mar mar- grandma
farmer mitmus- father christmas
holic- yoghurt
babble- apple
hosage- sausage
hatton- hat ( because i always say lets get your hat on)
terpipicate- certificate
even my neighbours say "hosage" now.

I love this stage too Smile. In our house at the moment we have

All orange goldfish - Bundy. No idea why, any suggestions welcome
Kangaroo - kagadoo
rabbit - hop
Hug/cuddle - a huggle (the very sweetest thing ever Smile)

itstheyearzero · 12/01/2011 06:07

rekfash = breakfast
diddy = hammer (why???)
bapoo = apple
Baba = our dog Beaker (we all call him Baba now!)
eeyon = to Infinity and Beyond!
mee-mah = fire engine
ishpish = biscuit
Tofe = Fireman Sam!!!

I love this stage too and will definitely miss his babling when he starts talking properly.

My DD made up her own words.
Shebel is an eggcup
Felly is an elephant
Ebad is a zebra
Gubby is the lather you get from soap or shampoo.
Badder was grandad
Dodo was her dummy

It did make us laugh, but scratch our heads when she came out with a new one.
She is a very verbose nine year old now Wink

kreecherlivesupstairs · 12/01/2011 07:09

She also had to spet the button on hercar seat to release the catch. Hearing her shouting spet spet spet will stay with me to the day I die. So eager was she to get out of the car.

and sheep are called baps

pinkthechaffinch · 12/01/2011 07:14

also dd was calling horses 'cocks' for ages and we couldn't work out why

and then I sang 'ride a cock horse!'

am leaving that nursery rhyme for a while now

wonderstuff · 12/01/2011 11:08

LMAO at cocks Grin

Took us a while to work out why DD was calling a balloon her 'E I O' - then figured out she got it at McDonalds!

sooo cute - and so right they should be written down - am struggling to remember ours....

think the best one was when dd said "I love you round the unicorn Mummy".... she meant "universe"!
