What age do you think a child should be able to drink from a cup without a problem?

Are you talking about an open cup? My dd tries now at 16 months but still gets more down the front of her than in her mouth.

I think it varies widely, not least depending when you first introduce a cup

dd has a cup with no lid on now at 25m, but try to only have water if she's walking round with it!

my dd will be 3 tomorrow (4th) as she still drink from a bottle she wont drink from a cup

My dd has been able to drink from a cup perfectly for the past few months (she's 20 months) but still turns it upside down on purpose from time to time, so she doesn't get the choice in other people's houses!

I think by 2 (?) they should be able to but don't expect them to all of the time.

My dbs are older (2 and 3) and can drink from open cups. However, they still insist on their spill-proof cups most of the time because they can take them into the sitting room and on car journeys. Not sure whether I should stop this, or move onto one of those bottles with a spout. The younger one always manages to tip it everywhere.

And whrn did you manage to get them to drink from spill-proof cups, as babies? Mine just refuses point blank to take anything but milk, and from nothing but a bottle. He's nearly 10 months, btw.

What can I do to encourage him??
