Wetting herself and Getting up at night

DD (2.5) has been using the toilet for two months successfully. However, this week she's started to wet herself in the daytime, and doesn't seem to realise until it's too late. This happens when we're at home and also when we're out and about. It's odd as previously, no matter how excited or involved in something she was, she's still ask to be taken to the loo when she needed it.

This week she's also started to get out of her bed in the night and ask to come downstairs or get into our bed.

I'm wondering if the two things are linked? Does anyone have any advice, please?

Thank you for your help. :)

first, dont panic - they all get there in the end and it is really common for lapses/temporary regressions

second, in my experience kids have lapses when there's something that is bothering them, it could be something really obscure like becoming aware of the concept of kidnappers and burglars through overhearing something or even misinterpreting something some other kid said. or it could be more obvious like sibling issues or childcare arrangements changing.

our kids went through phases of asking to come into our bed it always turned out to be when one of them at least was bothered about something, eg some change or other that was going on in the background. (sometimes the others would join in just because the other one had started! Wink)

hope you get on ok with it...

Thanks very much, PotMarigold. That's reassuring. I don't think that anything's changed, but, as you say, it could be anything as her awareness of the world around her grows. She was picked-on by an older girl at a birthay party a few days ago, so perhaps she's still smarting from that.

I must remember to not get annoyed by it and try to be understanding, even when she's wetting herself on my newly mopped floor! Grin.

Thanks again.

Just go with it-I think a period of regression is quite common after potty training. My ds went through it,and even now (he's been trained 6mnths) has odd days when he's tired/a bit poorly when he might have a couple of accidents in one day, then nothing for weeks. I think they are just developing so quickly at this age,and learning all the time,so sometimes they regress with things like sleeping/toiling. I'm sure it will pass
