I have a a gorgeous 4.5 month old baby who didn't make a peep for the first 3.5 months, never cried, slept well, ate well. She recently had her 3rd injections and ever since then its like I have a different baby. She wont let me put her down during the day, or night. She cries non stop. She will only fall asleep on or beside me and as soon as I put her in her bed she wakes up. She is also not eating as well as she was. We have tried to let her cry herself to sleep but she doesn't stop, and works herself up into quite a state! Anyone gone thru this? Or any tips on how to make it better? We are at our wits end!!!!!!

HI,
From what I have heard, a baby crying or being "out of sorts" after an injection is to be taken very seriously [ very often women are fobbed off by doctors, but mothers know their babies]
Other than that, has she got worse since you tried to let her cry herself to sleep, because leaving a baby to cry can worry a baby, even one as young as yours.

other than that.. babies do change; a quiet baby can become grizzly after a few months and vice versa, so it could just be a normal developmental step (usually before a growth spurt or milestone)
But trust your instincts- what do you think it could be?

Hi Becs, how long has she been like that for? My DD went through a difficult stage at 4 months for a week or so. I remember it well and was at my wits end too. I found the 'wonder weeks' theory interesting (you can google it) - apparently at around 19 weeks they have a developmental spurt which can make them really cranky and clingy. There's also the 4 month sleep regression which we didn't experience but it's very common. Don't worry, it'll just be a little phase - it probably seems interminable now but it won't last long. My DD is 8 months now and is generally pretty easy but does go through cranky periods. If you're worried about her jabs then it might be worth checking with your doctor. I suppose she could also be starting teething too.
