Is this toy to young for a 4 year old?

My DD loves camper vans/caravans and she loves pink, she keeps asking for a camper van or a caravan to play with (in the absence of a real one!). I had looked at the syvanian families one but it is a bit fiddly and she has a house which she does not really play with, she loves the animals but not bothered by the house and little toy bits, she prefers her wooden one.

DS is one and DD has started to play with the little people stuff again, but not sure if this is a phase.

this wow toy is perfect, in theory but I wonder if it might be a bit too young for her ? or she might outgrow it? we have had a tendency in the past to buy things that are perhaps a little too old for her and not got played with, but worried she won't play with it very long...

She is 4.4, and loves imaginary play.

What do you think?

My DD is the same age and I feel like it would be too young for her but you know your DD. Have you looked at the Playmobil Camper Van? It's not pink but my DD loves all of the little bits (plates, knives, mobile phone).

oh, my ds had that - it is lovely.
I think he got it 2 years ago, so aged nearly 3 and he played with it a lot.
He hasn't really played with all the little people type things for a year, but his imaginary play now seems to involve fighting Hmm

How about this one?

GrizzlyMacDuff · 11/12/2010 08:00

now i did look at the le toy one, do you think it might be too fiddly? she has a habit of losing/breaking things..t is quite sylvanian families?

oh i do quite like the look of the plamobil one, and it has the added bonus of being suitable for DS as he grow older too, where the pink ones wont. Is that Terribly Bad of me, to consider when buying my DDs christmas present whether it will be a good hand me down ?

My dd has this one (she is 7 now so ds1 usually plays with it)

It is not wrong to buy a present that is a good hand me down, I often buy them gifts knowing that the ones younger will get long term use out of it.

The other nice thing about Playmobil is that if you go on to buy some for your DS, in future, they can join their toys together to play. DD often plays with DS (6) with his - the fire station and the magical castle work surprisingly well together!! (And the princess always takes her holidays in the camper van Grin )

oh i like that one too! She has a Rosie already, somewhere!

I was going to suggest the Rosie's World one too. DD has the car and doll and she still plays with it at 4.4. I think the one you originally linked to looks a little too young tbh.

GrizzlyMacDuff · 11/12/2010 21:31

thanks for all the suggestions. I showed DH all of them and we have decided on the playmobil one on account of DH going 'oooh that one that one that one definitely!' Grin
