Last few months he is saying

Dont like it a lot.

To so many things.
Things that a minute later he likes.
Everything from food, to the childminder to the dogs ....everything..putting clothe son taking them off etc

And also
I cant do it

we are very encouraging parents and give lots of praise and encourage him to be independent but sometime she will try for a scond and then

I cant do it...

even if he is managing to do it!

anyone else?

My DS1 didn't speak until he had been 2 a while, so no he never did this.

I would say it was perfectly normal and wouldn't consider it anything to be remotely concerned about TBH.

Indith · 05/12/2010 09:14

Yup.

Ds was like that, still is age 4 "but but mummy I can't dooooooo it!" without even trying when I know that he can do it because he did it yesterday.

dd is almost 2 and we get lots of "no" when she means "yes" and "that really hurt mummy" for no apparent reason.

when will it stop?

See my comment about the 4 year old. I have no idea! Soon I hope!

My dd does this too, she is 9.7 Smile

My daughter's friend often tells me he doesn't like stuff which his mum says isn't true later! He is 3 1/2. My DD went through a huge thing of what she was able to do during 2. Total melt down if I automatically opened the yoghurt pot for her. It is their sense of control, what they can do they will! She also refused to wear certain clothes with total randomness. This has all settled now during 3 yrs. Try not to let it annoy you, ignore the 'bad' and encourage what you like him doing, and remember this is perfectly normal (even if annoying, gritting teeth becomes somewhat regular!)

thank you flamingpants

we have started with the 'why mummy' now too!!

Yes, we get this all the time.

Tbh, it's like water off a duck's back here.... I think it's normal developement stuff as they start to become self-aware, realise there is an "I" and then start experimenting with what this "I" Smile

I wouldn't worry about it. Don't draw attention to it, or you'll encourage it!

Mine alternates between 'No' 'Stop It' and a very new embarrassing 'Oh my God'. Needless to say the more we ask her not to the more she says it. Have also tried the complete ignoring thing and that doesn't seem to be working either - she says it on purpose and then looks at us with a smile on her face waiting for a reaction.

I don't think she really understands the words just that I don't like it when she says them all the time.....it will pass !
