marne i have started using one for ds who is 23mths. He knows that if he has a warning and I say you wont get a star on the chart he points at it. He also boos if you give him a cross on it..lol

i dont think its to young. emma has one on the firdge, she puts the stars on herself as a reward, and knows why she didnt get one on days where she didnt progress or do well or whatever we call it. my dds behavioiur has been really poor recently and it has kinda slioghty helped.

It depends on the kids marne. DS1 was a dreadful sleeper, hated his cot, wouldn't stay in a bed, bla bla bla, and in desperation (thinking he was too young to understand it) we tried a sticker chart at that age (also 20 months) and the results were fantastic. He turned into a fabulous sleeper literally overnight, and has continued to be so for the past 6 years!

DS2, however, has never been particularly motivated by sticker charts. He likes specific praise, but sticker charts don't really do it for him.

They are both bright, so it's not just a matter of understanding: personality makes a difference too.
