My third child is 20 months old, my older two both had various levels of delay but at 20 months neither were talking at all so speaking at this age has come as a shock to me even though i know it average :). Anyway she has started counting things all the time she can only go up to 5 but she counts everything I was just wondering is this weird and how can I encourage her to expand her enjoyment of things outside counting games? Or actually do i even need to or should i just help her count?!

It's a phase - it's something she learned to do - got lots of praise for, so keeps doing! Don't praise her quite so much and she'll soon find a new 'trick' Grin

Just let her enjoy it and do it at her own pace. There is no need to do anything. if she wants to count things there are enough things in her normal day to day life to count.

Our lift broke when DD was 20 monhts old so she learnt to recite numbers to 20 or so from then, and begin to count steps one by one from then on to. It made counting 140 steps or so each day more fun for her, lol.
