hi

my 3 yr old is pushing the little kids at his preschool. its not everyday but atleast twice a week so far for the past 3 weeks.

what can i do? have tried the naughty corner and now added smacking his hand when he behaves badly.....

wonder if i should put him in some class like martial arts or somthing? cant find many options in my area (woodford-buckhurst hill) for after 3pm on weekdays. anyone have some advice?

If your DS is pushing children at preschool how do they deal with it?
When you say you are trying the naughty corner and smacking his hand is that after preschool, so not directly after each incident? Or is he pushing outside preschool too?
I do sympathise though - i've posted a couple of times recently as my son is doing exactly the same thing.
I'm sorry but I do think smacking his hand wont do much good, it may just encourage him to mimic this as well.
No idea about the martial arts thing. My son is just about to turn 3 and I would personally think this is a bit too advanced for him.

at preschool they tell him that its not nice and put him in corner (they have red/green light area).... ya, maybe smacking his hand is not doing any good. just dont know what to do anymore

Yeah - I do know what you mean. My son is very physical and has been rough with other children since he was 18 months old. It's really frustrating and upsetting.
On the thread I posted someone suggested using a 1,2,3 approach and then leaving wherever I am - like the park or a playgroup.
I think your preschool has quite a strict regime - my sons preshool would never send a child to a corner. They would stop the behaviour and tell the child what is acceptable but would leave it at that.
Just remembered someone else on the other thread suggested modelling postitive behaviour - so encouraging turn taking, playing nicely with other children etc.

just a ray of hope for you all, my ds pushed loads when he was 18m -4yrs. I did the if you do this one more time we're leaving, and we did, whether it was toddler group, park, soft play, friend's house. It's hard and takes a long time and tbh I don't know how much good it did, but you have to do something just so the parents of the poor child they've pushed think you're dealing with it.

Anyway, my ds is now 10, he is very gentle now, loves animals and wouldn't dream of hurting anyone apart from his younger brother lol. I don't know whether he grew out of it or my firmness had anything to do with it, it certainly didn't seem to be working when I was dealing with it.

So be consistant, and very patient :)
