Why does he cry at mealtimes?

My 7 month old ds is a bit of a whinger at the best of times but at mealtimes he whinges and cries quite a bit. He's sort of OK as long as the food is being shovelled in (though not always)and has to be distracted with playing with a spoon or toy while he still has to be in the high chair while I tidy or finish my food. Any ideas? Has anyone else experienced this. I don't think it's because he wants more and it can't be because he doesn't like the food.

might just be bored in the highchair, have you tried putting him down to play while you finish your meal?

He doesn't really like to be put down very much, he's one of those babies that like to be lugged around all the time. Tea time is always pretty hectic, maybe he picks up on this. What time do people feed their kids, I also have 2.8 year old dd.

Hi, my ds is 8.5 months and I have noticed that he is doing the same thing over the last couple of weeks. What I do is give him lots of 'bits' of food to play with and hopefully eat on his highchair tray - ie bits of bread/toast, apple, banana etc. This distracts him most of the time.

I feed him his dinner at 12pm and tea around 4.30 oh and breakfast at 9am.
