my 3 year old DD when overexcited or overtired goes into this other zone where she's like a crazy thing, rocking side to side, wont listen to anything etc etc; how can i get through to her when she is like this? shouting at her doesnt work she just laughs, sick of having the worse behaved child in the group!

Am not a childcare expert but in my experience the best thing to do is intervene before your DD get to this point. Am sure you will know the signs that she is getting tired/ overexcited so get in there 1st and get her settled to bed or away from whatever is causing the issues.

If the same activities are leading up to her behaving this way then cut them short or stop them.

Similarly make sure she is keeping to her sleeping routine as much a possible; you know when she is due a sleep so try & take her out of the group when it is that time.

Hope this helps.

my ds1 who is 4 gets like this. Its hard to deal with because sometimes it comes out of the blue or the excitable mood is unavoidable e.g around certain family members! However, i have to say he is much better than he used to be just because he's grown up a bit i think. Try not to stress too much, it all changes with age.

Yep, my DS was like this too, sometimes still is and he's 6.3. I agree that knowing when it will start and stopping it can help. I realised DS just didnt seem to know how to relax, I would just get him to sit with me and sing songs with him. He would wriggle and fight it but I would say 1 minute with mummy and you play again or we go straight home. Battle but he got it in the end.

Remove her from the group quickly and quietly and just sit it out in a quiet corner somewhere was the only thing that ever worked for me.
