...is this expected? I don't know how many times he said 'fuck' on the way home from nursery today (he was pointing out trucks ) and he's just said to me 'I want to take my fousers off (trousers of course!)). He says free for tree as well.

can't remember if this is still expected at this age (2.10)

was given a sheet at speech therapy other day which says when most kid start using sounds. 75% of kids can use t by age 3, 90% by age 5 1/2 (so nothing to worry about there). blended sounds such as tr develop between 5 1/2 and 8 1/2 in 75% of kids. if you want anymore i can type the whole list for you

Gobbledigook · 19/09/2005 19:15

Oh that's reassuring - thanks!

I just couldn't remember if this was expected or whether I should worry just yet.

When I was little I used to say
"Incy Wincy Fider climbing up the Fout"

DS (almost 5) still slips into using F for Th but we are now trying to stress the right sounds - I suppose it will be clearer to him when he starts reading.

my DS1 - 3 and half - can't really do an "s" at the beginning of words. Went to the park on Saturday and he was running around with a big stick saying "I've got a really big dick...."

gigglinggoblin · 20/09/2005 08:31

i used to have trouble with s tommy, my mum loves the story of me telling the lady on the supermarket checkout that my grandad has a really big dick and he chases the big bad wolf away with it

Tommy · 20/09/2005 08:35

LOL

dropinthe · 20/09/2005 08:49

My eldest can't say his "f"s so will say -look at that "punny pace"-or can we watch a "pilm".Try as he may he just can't form the letter.

jayzmummy · 20/09/2005 08:56

DS2 use to replace the "B" for "F".... "bootball", "bish" etc.

SALT recommended that we used a small birthday candle, under supervision of course, and let DS2 practice blowing out the flame by making the "F" sound. I used a small cup cake as a treat so if he managed to make the "F" sound 5 times he got to eat the cake.
