Pants for bedwetting 6 year old?

My DD is 6, and still wets the bed. Nothing wrong with her (she's been checked out at hospital) but it's costing me a fortune in pull-ups, and I don't like the thought of contributing to the landfill anymore. Are there are reuseable pants on the market? She doesn't even wake up when she wets, so they'd need to be very absorbant

Paolosgirl - we tried a different approach with DS. Left him in pyjamas with no pants on so he could feel getting wet. It took a while (months) but it's finally worked at 5 1/2. We used waterproof bedsheets.

RTKangaMummy · 17/09/2005 21:34

have you tried eric???

paolosgirl · 17/09/2005 21:38

That's great, Yorkie, thanks

The hospital won't do anything until they're at least 7, as it's not considered a problem til then (as so many of them still do wet up until then). We did have her out of nighttime nappies for a long time, and used the waterproof sheet, but we had months of getting up 2/3 times a night. We were told just to put her back in nighttime nappies as the nerves to her bladder hadn't matured and it was not possible for her to stay dry at this time.

It must be rough for you all.

paolosgirl · 17/09/2005 21:43

Tanks also for the ERIC link

It's easier now that we're back in nighttime (has that got 2 t's?!) nappies - and tbh she's not bothered by it all at the moment. I think the time will come when she starts going to sleep-overs...not sure what we'll do then. Hopefully she'll be OK by that time.

I'm glad that she isn't upset, that would be the toughest thing I think. As you say it happens to lots of kids at that age, but it is still tough on you. I hope those nerves grow soon.

Thanks, HMB

DS had the ERIC liner for the sleeping bag cos he was going on a school trip, but I wouldn't recommend it cos it goes down inside the sleeping bag

Good luck with getting help

Bedwetter pants from the nappy lady are good reusable ones. They fitted mine until they were 7 or 8 in the largest size. I think they are about £18 a pair.

Hi, paolosgirl. DS (just 7)still wets the bed 20 or 3 times a week - it was more often but over the last year has lessened. We did go to the enuresis clinic (they take them from 6.5 here) but frankly he wasn't interested, and they advised us against using an alarm until he was motivated to be dry at night. We are still using Pull Ups/DryNites, but thanks everyone else for the links for the re-usable ones. Would be cheaper, as well as more environmentally friendly, in the long run.
