DD is 6m, generally very smiley happy baby, breast fed on demand, sleeps well, but just recently she makes this horrendous groaning noise, for like an hour at a time, in the evenings. It is driving me insane, it's SO LOUD and nothing seems to stop her!
I have fed her, changed her, played with her, and she still does it :( any tips? It really really hurts my head and my patience is starting to fray, don't want to shout at her for something she can't help.

Wait until she gets to 8 months and they do this happy but very LOUD constant squealing (sounds a bit like something froma horror film), esp. when you're in public places.

Dunno about your situation, but if she's happy in herself then it's just her little thing.

Is she upset/in pain/pooing/????

if she's seems happy, it's just that she's discovered a new noise she can make.

I aggree with ragged - in a couple of months from now you'll be replacing all the glass she's shattered with an ear piercing shriek, which she will do at random, and only when it's most inconvenient. You'll look back on the growling with fondness, trust me.

lol

She does shriek quite a bit, maybe this is what she does when she's too tired to shriek...I was feeling a bit worn down when I posted as she's hardly slept today and has been pretty noisy when awake! I put the television on to muffle her noise (she was sitting up nest to me, playing, just been fed, clean nappy, smiling! yet groaning) and she seemed to find Jamie Oliver quite soothing. I hope it was the tv and not just him, I'll put something good on if she does it tomorrow and try to chill :)
thanks!

Has she started teething yet?

Our 5 month old makes these noises, which were quite alarming at first, whenever he is about to cut a tooth (he has 2 and a third about to come through). He makes really deep and grunty noises which seem to come from his throat. I was worried that he was hurting himself but he seems fine, just very noisy and drools aLOTSmile

We give him Nelson's Teetha Powder and that seems to soothe him and calm him for a while.

Good luck.

Ooh, it could be - she hasn't cut any teeth yet, but you can feel them through her gums iykwim. She has been very bitey on one side the last couple of days too, though not especially drooly by her standards :)

She likes the Ashton and Parsons powders, if she does it tomorrow I'll give her some of those.
