17 mth - tantrums?!

My DD has just turned 17mths and I think the tantrums have started for real.

She's seems to have grown up a huge amount recently and is much more independent and strong willed than even a couple of months ago.

Question - at the mo she is throwing a strop about loads of things, every day. Is this likely to be a phase, a stroppy few weeks and then she might be sunny again until the next stroppy phase?

Or is it going to be like this permanently till she is 3?!? ConfusedShock Hope not!

ds did the same!

i rushed out in a panic and bought 'toddler taming'. its good for some reassurance but not rocket science.

funnily enough he stopped soon after - or i got better at heading off a tantrum quickly.
we still have them but i can deal wth them better.

i dont think she will be like that permanantly till 3 - hopefully! my ds used to be a bit like that around that age and grew out of it fairly quickly really, although would have off days still now and again(he is 2.4) but i would be suprised if your dd stays like this permanantly til 3 yrs old. how is her speech? i find the better speech gets easier to reason with them and avoid this kind of tantrums?
its probably just a frustration thing with her getting more independant and maybe as her ability to do everything herself improves she will be less frustrated and so less stroppy? my ds also quite independant and strong willed so seems similar, and he improved soo much between about 17 months and 2 years so your dd may be the same. she could just be getting terrible 2 out the way early, rather than going to drag it out from now til 3
