Is pestering for junk food ALL THE TIME normal?

Hello

All of a sudden my 3 year old is constantly saying 'I'm hungry, can I have some crisps/sweeties/cake/ice cream...' when offered a healthier alternative she just goes in one and says 'I'm not hungry for that, I'm hungry for ice cream/cake/ket.'

Now, I'm all for letting kids have the odd treat and I think it's important not to try and achieve a good balance, but I'm not allowing her to have ket all the time!

Is pestering for food, especially junky stuff, normal at this age? It's driving me mad!

sounds like she's bored.

If she is really hungry she will accept the healthier snack.

Stop having it in the house for a while. She will get out of the habit.

and 'if you don't want an apple, then you are not hungry' is an appropriate reply

Agree it's boredom when they won't accept a healthy alternative

I have 2 who genuinely have large appetites but do constantly go on about food... it does do my head in sometimes

But I know when they are hungry because they will accept crackers/fruit/cereal etc, not just 'treats'

That's the thing though, I can;t even offer her any junk as we never really have any in! The only time she gets treats is if we go to a cafe or something - seems a bit unfair to deny her a cookie when I'm having something naughty!
