3yr old dropping his 'T's?

Hi my 3.6yr old DS has in the last few weeks started dropping his t's from words. He speaks very well and has a fantastic vocabulary and understanding for his age.
We're baffled as to why he's speaking like this. We live in the north west so there's no southern influence. He also has another wierd thing in that he says things like 'bath, path, grass' with a southern accent sometimes and we are very northern in our pronunciation!
Its like he has a cockney gene in him!

Can anyone shed any light on this?

A friend at playgroup/nursery?

TV?

Playing around with accents?

I wouldn't think anything of it tbh. He sounds cute Smile

I don't know if he's trying to copy an accent.
Like he said "bo'om" instead of bottom today.

Probably copying someone. I would ignore and he'll probably stop doing it!

At one point ds developed a very pronouced Coventry accent although dh has a mild one and we don't live there and no one else in his life has one!

Suppose they just copy stuff. He is very alert to accents though, if I do a Welsh accent (I am Welsh) he says, "why are you taking like Dylis?" (Fireman Sam).

My dd2 who is almost 3 is very articulate and so we were horrified when she started dropping her T's - we identified the problem soon enough - other children her older sister mixes with who drop t's etc...I told dd2 off and corrected her...she did it for a while just to annoy me but now if she says it accidentally she corrects herself - and other people which is HIGHLY embarrassing!!
