Clocks going back nightmare!!

SlummyMummy65 · 29/10/2010 10:42

Is anyone else out there worried about the clocks going back?! My boddler (16 months) barely makes it to 5am, so on Sunday we're bracing ourselves for what is in reality a 4am start to the day!

Any tips on how to handle this? And no, I don't mean a double espresso!

As a 44 year old mummy I need my kip!

All help very much appreciated...

Slummy Mummy (oh yes indeedy)

Hi there,
There's a thread on this in Sleep

And yes, I'm worried too - my 13-month old DS gets up at 05h30...and putting him to bed later doesn't mean a later start to the day!

Arrggghh, I'm so tired (excuse the pun) of people telling me I'll get an extra hour in bed on Sunday! No, I won't!

lucykate · 29/10/2010 10:50

used to take dd a week to get back on track with sleeping when the clocks changed, glad to report as she's got older, it now has no effect at all.

JustKeepSparkling · 29/10/2010 10:50

I am with you on this totally!

DS1 normally wakes at 7 and previously facing 6am would have been unpleasant but bearable.

But...DS2. wakes anytime from 4.58 (seeing that on the clock burns its way into your brain!). And he is ready to go, start the day, playtime, hooray...

Have been putting them to bed later and later all week, 8pm last night. And he managed 6.10 this morning, yey. hmm.

He is very unpredictable so cannot guarantee what will happen tomorrow and for Sunday and beyond, am bracing myself for a 3am possible start.

I'm pg and really need my sleep!

TryLikingClarity · 29/10/2010 14:20

I'd never thought about this until now Confused

8 month old DS usually wakes up at 6am (you could set your watch by him) but the past 3 nights he's been getting up at 5am, and this AM he got up at 4:35am.

I'm not looking forward to Sunday morning, although it is my birthday on Sunday so I'm looking forward to that.

Good luck for tomorrow morning everyone!

JustKeepSparkling · 30/10/2010 21:03

We are going to need it!

Despite keeping DS2 up til gone 8 last night he was up at 5.42 today....

8pm tonight too, so who knows...

lucyflawless · 30/10/2010 21:09

Me too

zzzzzzz

I've got a whole sleep debacle going on in my house.

DD (2.9) up at 5.45 this morning followed by DS (11m) at 6.30

I sent DD back to bed after having a wee - we have one of those kidsleep alwarm clocks. She was in her bedroom but quietness is not in her vocab.

zzzzz

JustKeepSparkling · 30/10/2010 21:11

Oh yes DS1 was up early today too, 6.20. Sent back to bed and actually was quiet until 7.

TryLikingClarity · 30/10/2010 21:21

DS went to bed this evening at 7:20pm, which is about average for him.

There are so many fireworks up here though, so he keeps grumbling and tossing & turning in his sleep cuz of the noise.

Hope he sleeps in a bit tomorrow morning >TLC crosses fingers and toes for a nice birthday lie-in

JustKeepSparkling · 01/11/2010 19:27

Well we had 5.10 yesterday, 4.30 today

Both boys to bed relatively early tonight, DS1 after a meltdown - totally out of character.

My Dad has got up with DS2 & sent me back to bed for 2 mornings in a row, hope fully he'll do the same tomorrow :)
but then parents go home and it's back to me (DH works away a lot)

bunnyfrance · 02/11/2010 07:51

Oh dear, jks. Have you tried moving their whole routine along, or just bedtime?

Things aren't going too badly here - DS up at 5am on Sunday (6am summer time, so totally normal), 5h10 yesterday and then actually managed 5h40 this morning! So it looks like progress. I've been delaying his first feed so that he has it at 6am and it seems to be working, hooray!

JustKeepSparkling · 02/11/2010 08:57

Bunny - that sounds like progress :)

I have tried all sorts. Today 3.46.

Put him back in bed several times until 5am. gave up & came down, luckily my Dad took over the early shift :)

So i went back to bed and got more sleep.

DS1 was 6.30-6.30 so can't complain :)

JustKeepSparkling · 03/11/2010 05:36

4.45 today - better than yesterday obv, but tough when starting the day before 5 feels like an improvement as it's not before 4.

DS2 doesn't get drink or food until 7+ and doesn't seem to mind, so not hungry or thirsty as far as i can tell.

Just want to get up and play :) Hmm

monkeyfacegrace · 03/11/2010 06:05

Urgh, Im here too, my 2 yr old got to 5.15 and.... Ping, MORNING MUMMY!

Hmm
JustKeepSparkling · 03/11/2010 06:14

How bad is it that i'm Envy at your 5.15?!!!! Grin

monkeyfacegrace · 03/11/2010 07:48

JKS, pre 5am and its still middle of the night Wink

JustKeepSparkling · 03/11/2010 08:19

Yeah I agree unfortunately DS2 has SN and doesn't 'get' stuff, so i tell him no, nightnight, put him back in bed etc, no use.
I found him this morning looking out the window, half under tte curtains banging on the window chatting to the....i dunno, the outside i guess!

it's a phase, it's a phase....:)
