Teething at 6 weeks surely it's not possible??

Hiya i might sound totally clueless but my DD is 6 weeks old today and is showing signs of teething already. Her cheeks are all red and she's started chewing everything. Her fists are constantly in her mouth which is normally a sign that she is hungry but she's still eating every 4 hours and deffinately isn't hungry between feeds.

I've googled it and everything seems to say that 6 months is when they normally start.

Has anyone experienced it so soon??

I found the teeth came through at about 6 months but mine both had all the teething symptoms you describe from about 3 months. I think everything starts to move around under the gums. It's probably uncomfortable but teeth might not be imminent. But they are all so different - you might just have an early teether!

My ds is 11 wk old and he is exactly the same. His fists are constantly in his mouth and his cheeks are very rosy. I wondered if he might be teething but it seems too early. They do say that all babies are different though so you never know...

Hi, I thought one of my DS's was teething at 6 weeks. He had red cheecks and was constantly hand-chewing. When I mentioned it to the GP at the 6 week check he basically laughed me out of the surgery. However, by 12 weeks, DS had 2 teeth that had come right down, so it is definately possible!

My ds has been as you describe for months, he's five months now and still hasn't had a tooth through.

My dd1 teethed from 9 weeks - and her two bottom teeth popped through at 16 weeks and 16 weeks 1 day! Its not impossible!

She's very very irratable aswell, she's now been awake since 4pm and is showing no signs of going to sleep so something is deffinately going on. She's normally only awake for a couple of hours at a time. I'm tearing my hair out :)
