So help me God, and my extremely whingey 2 YO

DD1 has turned into a very, very, very disgruntled almost 2 YO. Most days it feels like her only pitch is hysteria and she won't wait even a second for anything.

Is this a stage? I hope so. I feel like my head is about to explode - and I have too often shouted with real anger. At a baby!

Wise words?

It's a stage. It'll pass. She's not a baby any more, she's a Terrible Two.

TethHearseEnd · 25/10/2010 22:45

No wise words, but mine is the same age and doing it too.

I amuse myself some days by asking her lots of questions knowing the answer will be a screamed "No-o!"

-Do you know why you're moaning?
-Are you having a tantrum?
-Do you love Daddy more than Mummy?
-Is the sky Blue?

etc, etc.

It does nothing to alter her behaviour but it means I get to amuse myself, and it makes me want to throw her out of the window a little bit less.

It does pass. We went through an awful terrible two stage, but shortly after turning 3 I realised we were having barely any tantrums, whereas they were a daily (many times daily!) occurence before.

Now she is much easier to negotiate with, and generally a much happier girl.

Mine are much older (I have a dgs a bit younger) but I completely support what TethHearseEnd said. Humour is important when dealing with tantrums.

(God, it's sooooo much easier when it's not your child!)

Belated PS: thanks everyone. Am testing out humour. Little scamp seems to like it.

I must say I resorted to time out with my little one. Seems to have stopped the whinging - along with making sure I give her lots and lots of positive playful fun attention.
