How to stop a 3 yo putting EVERYTHING in her mouth

dd1 is 3 and constantly puts things in her mouth, toys, coins, basically anything she has her hands on.

she gave up dummies at 2.5 but was very attached to them.

i've tried scare tactics (if you swallow it you will have to go to the hospital & have it cut out and it will hurt)

threats (if you put it in your mouth i will put it in the bin)

and giving her her old taggie blanket especially for sucking

but she still persists. any tips on stopping this habit?

Have you read the 'out of sync child'?

It sounds like sensory seeking behaviour

My two and a half year old went through a phase of doing this, quick time out for a minute each time and she stopped. She was clearly doing it because she knew it was naughty, laughing like a drain eachtime so might not be so effective if you think it's more of an oral necessity thing.

Not heard of that stark. Definitely not deliberate naughtiness (there is plenty more of that!). It seems unconscious.

My dd 3.7 years does this but is not as bad as she used to be. Yes I was told by pre school and SALT that it was sensory.
