Everyone elses lo's seem to be able to climb out of the cot? ds has never tried - is it cos he's in a grobag? When he wakes he just stands at the end of his cot shouts 'mummy!'.

Mine too. Don't think it's occured to him that he could, so has never tried. I'm not about to encourage him either...

clary · 14/09/2005 08:57

why would you want yr child to climb out of his cot?
FWIW neither ofmy older 2 did, they were still in the cot at 2yrs 3mo or so. DS2 is still in it at nearly 2.6 and does try to get out but hasn't succeeded yet thank goodness.

Nemo1977 · 14/09/2005 08:58

Some just dont want to and are quite happy to stay where they are..to be honest I wish my ds had done that as he was 12mths and trying to vault which made me feel sick at the idea of going in to him with a cracked head on the floor.

tissy · 14/09/2005 08:58

My 3 yr old never climbed out of her cot, either. Now she is in a bed, she doesn't get out of that, she just sits up and yells for us to come and get her!

TBH, I'm happy with that, at least I don't have to worry about where she is!

QueenOfQuotes · 14/09/2005 09:02

Enjoy it - it's lovely to have a child that doesn't want to climb out his cot - DS1 never did - (never climbed out his bed once he was put in it either (EVER - well until his brother started climbing out of his cot so DS1 was 4 by then!).

DS2 a completely different ball game and it's a nightmare!

Enid · 14/09/2005 09:08

what a strange thing to want

dd1 never did and she was in her cot till nearly 3. dd2 did but when she was about 2.5.

JoolsToo · 14/09/2005 09:19

he likes it in there?

Marina · 14/09/2005 09:20

I'm with Enid. Ds never climbed out of his and neither has dd at over two. Hurrah for grobags and protecting your child from one completely unnecessary risk of head injury.
Dd can walk along in her grobag once out from behind the bars, which looks pretty funny

Twiglett · 14/09/2005 09:21

jeez why would you want him to?

the second my DS did I moved him to a bed .. he was 2

lou33 · 14/09/2005 09:21

ds1 started climbing out at 12 months, ds2 is 2.3 and hasn't bothered yet. They're all different.

philippat · 14/09/2005 09:53

Just like Tissy, my nearly-4-year-old dd (who is always climbing over the back of the sofa, the table, the kitchen work tops etc etc) STILL doesn't get out of bed, just yells 'Mummy!' 'Daddy!' or sometimes 'Someone!' when she wakes up.

flamesparrow · 14/09/2005 09:55

DD never tried either... too lazy I think!

noughtsandcrosses · 14/09/2005 10:02

Someone i know still has their son of 4 in his cot!!

It is slightly larger than an average cot as it's a cot/bed, but even so! They have no interest in converting it into a bed as he still doesn't climb out.

muminlondon · 14/09/2005 10:35

My dd doesn't and she's 2.6. Just consider yourself lucky.

compo · 14/09/2005 10:37

mine doesn't either. Sounds like you're worrying about notjing. My ds is not quite 18 months and has only just learnt how to climb onto the sofa

LIZS · 14/09/2005 10:41

I wouldn't worry about it. Sounds as if he is happy in there ! ds never climbed out of his cot but dd could so we took a side off eventually.

Our dd (2.2) is still in her cot and has never tried climbing out of it - so we decided to keep her in it as long as possible before putting her into big girl's bed - from what I've heard we're pretty lucky

Donbean · 14/09/2005 12:35

mine was 2y 1m when it occurred to him to climb out, till then i would have been more than happy to leave him for as long as poss.
If it aint broke, why fix it?

magnolia1 · 14/09/2005 15:34

Katie is 2.3 and I have never even had to lower her cot base. She has no interest in climing out although she makes up for it by climbing up DD1's cabin bed frequently

QueenOfQuotes · 14/09/2005 15:36

DS2 learned how to get out of his grobag when he was about 14 months old!
