New Baby related bed wetting???

Hi - My DD1 is nearly 6 and has over the last 3-4 weeks has wet the bed at night about 5 times. She has not done this since she potty trained at 2 (and then she only did it once!). We were lucky enough to have another dd nearly 2 weeks ago and I was wondering if the 2 events are connected. Any thoughts? Is this a behavioural/emotional issue connected to the arrival of her baby sister or more likely to be purely physical?

We have tried limiting drinks after 5pm and I'm not keen on getting her up for a wee as our loo is downstairs and I think it will really wake her up and give us a whole load of new issues.

I have no idea how to tackle this if indeed it needs tackling or if we should just ride this phase out. Any thoughts?

Every time we have a big change, DS1 always wets his bed. If we go on holiday, I can guarantee that he will wet the bed for the first couple of nights. When he started school, he had accidents a few times a week (settled now) for the first couple of weeks. He is nearly 5.

So I guess it could be because of the changes in your family. If I were you, I'd have a nice chat with her without getting cross, I would buy her a really nice new nighty or pj, or a new duvet set if you can afford it just to encourage her to stay dry, and put up with the accidents it until it passes.

Another thought, could it be because your new baby cries at night and wakes your DD1 up enough for her to need a wee during the night? Is she scared of the dark? She might be scared of going to the loo on her own.

thanks blueberry - i think it is the change that is doing it and we are trying not to make too much out of it. I really like the idea of buying a new nightie.

We took her for a wee at about 10 last night and that seemed to work too.
