I have been potty/toilet training my 3.3 ds1 for 4 days now. He is quite happy to sit on the toilet or potty but still isn't doing this of his own accord - I am taking him. He can hold in his pees but doesn't seem to recognise when its time to go. We have only had two accidents today (5 yesterday) and he was dry in the car for a 20 min journey and he also slept for an hour in the car on way home and was dry when he woke however wet himself 5 mins after me sitting him on the toilet and not doing anything! should I continue with the training for another few days or should he really be going to the potty/toilet on his own now? he is wearing pants all the time.

I think he's doing really well, remember that 'continence' is a learnt skill.

My son turned 3 in may and we started training him end of june, he got dry within a few days but that was with me doing watching the clock and taking him to the toilet every 2 hours or so, he likes to wait to the last minute (even now) and does a michael jackson type dance when he needs to go i.e grabbing his crotch', we still have the odd accident altho this is getting less and less as time go on.

he also pood his pants daily for about 2 months and then got to a point where he would hold it in until the night nappy went on and only now 4 months later does he take himself to the toilet for a poo

so chin up, boys are harder to train than girls as they usually start later and take longer. your little one will get there, just needs lots of patience and prompting from you good luck

Thanks! We had a poo accident after tea but luckily I was sat next to him. He started wiggling about and I asked him if he needed the potty and he said no then all of a sudden there it was! at least the pants caught it! oh the glamour! I will persevere with this though as I do think he is getting the hang of it. I have also promised the nursery teacher that I would give it a real push over the october holidays.Fingers crossed it will click over the next couple of weeks.

It sounds like he is doing great. I would carry on taking him to the toilet for the time being.
