18 month old son and doll/pram

I am thinking for buying my 18 month old son a baby doll and pram for Christmas. I think he will really like it ! My dad thinks it's ridiculous because he is a boy. Does anyone have boys this age who enjoy playing with dolls?

DS has never been that into dolls, but he loves his toy buggy and pushes his teddy around in it. All toddlers seems to love prams and buggies.

Your dad is the one being ridiculous. Fathers look after their babies, and even push prams too, you know!

Yes, DS loves his pushchair. Ask your Dad if he ever pushed you in yours.

ELC do a good non-pink one. DS mostly loves it cos it has wheels though.

Don't know about the dolls but know that toy buggys are really popular with young boys ... my godson used to put all sorts in his: teddies, drinks bottles, bread rolls. Loved it.

My DS had a doll and a buggy when he was that age, boys have to learn to be parents too!

When DD was born he was 2.5 and liked to carry his teddy around in a makeshift sling so he could be like me :)

yeah, get him one. DS1 has a blue buggy (now DS2's) - think we got it from argos for a fiver.

He hasnt used it for a long while, but he's 3.5 now. He used to take it down to the beer garden in the summer with either baby or bob the builder in it. It would then be used by the kids to give each other rides. I did get one or two comments - usually from blokes - about him bringing a buggy. I just laughed it off.

He's now at the age though he's being influenced by other kids and adults about 'gender' issues - he wouldnt use a pink spoon the other day and no longer wears fairy dresses from the dressing up box cos 'I'm not a GIRL mummy'. Its a shame. He makes a pretty fairy lol!

Also there are buggies at our toddler group. the boys use them as often as the girls.

Let them play with whatever they want to whilst they still want to - tell your dad its 2010!

ds (also 18mo) is not the slightest bit interested in dolls (except to chuck on the floor Hmm) but does enjoy pushing a toy buggy around

if your ds does like playing with dolls nothing wrong with getting him one though, I've seen some cute "boyish" rag dolls around if you're worried about it being too girly for your dad Grin

Yes my DS now 22 months has always enjoyed pushing my DD's babies round in her pushchair so somebody bought him a baby Annabel little brother doll and we got him a buggy, £4 from tesco. He absolutely loves it.

Think I will then !! Next time my dad takes him for a walk, I will get him to take the buggy too :P
