Argh!

My lvoely 17 week old has been more or less sleeping through the night since she was 12 weeks. For the last three nights, she has woken EVERY HOUR from 1am onwards. What is going on??? She doesnt seem to be going through any major developments that might be making her brain more active than usual.

Any tips on how to deal with it? Have shamefully resorted to shoving her dummy in which works until it falls out two minutes later and i am back up to put it back in!

Please tell me this won't last forever!!

I'm sure it won't last forever (although my 14 mo DD still wakes every hour some nights!). Is she hungry? 17 weeks is little to be sleeping for 12 hours.

DS was very similar and i did 2 things, one was get rid of the dummy and try and teach him to self settle (found tizzie halls book 'save our sleep' a life saver') and now he goes down awake and settles himself in the night... the other thing was to put more blankets on he now goes to bed with long sleeved vest, baby grow, grow bag and 2 blankets folded in 2 over the top (feet at bottom of cot and blankets tucked in the sides) - lots of evidence saying we are going to OTT to avoid sids by making sure babies aren't too hot and we are actually under dressing them!

could try a dream feed when you go to bed if think she might be hungry?

Four-month growth and development spurt! If you do a search on here for 16 weeks or 4 months sleep regression etc you will find dozens of threads about it! Sadly the three-ish months sleeping-through phase is just a phase like any other and passes like any other!

Try more breastfeeds during the day - the hourly wanting-to-feed is partly to get your milk up and partly to take on extra calories. There's a lot suddenly going on in the little brain and body!

thanks all; should have added, she does have a dreamfeed at 11.

Fairimum; intersting what you say about being cold....after just buying a groegg room thermometer i decided the room was too warm and removed the vest she had peviously been wearing...have put it back on tonight, so lets see! Was getting rid of the dummy difficult?
