minadex or other to improve appetite in 2yo?

Hi

Am a bit concerned that my dd doesn't have much appetite, even given she is a toddler. I am struggling to get her to eat much in the morning, and she just nibbles bits and pieces throughout the day and eats quite small meals.

I have ranted posted about this elsewhere and someone mentioned minadex to improve appetite. Anyone used this with any success?

Am posting because dd looks a bit pale and has been whingy all morning which has just driven me to tears because I am just fed up of everything. But that's another post.

hmmm, I also have similar-ish issues with my DD, also 2. I bought the minadex stuff, but surprise surprise she doesn't want to take it. In fact, she told me it smells 'like chicken poo' Confused. It has got a bit of an odd taste!

Well I'm happy to try mixing it with anything, it's all calories! Will chat to pharmacy this aft and see what they say.

Have you tried giving chewable vitamins? Have never used them myself.

No, but that's a good idea. Thing was I couldn't find any for under 3s with iron in them, might be intentional as I understand too much iron can be lethal for little ones.

Have used minadex in past with my DD's. Try sticking it in a drink so they can't taste it as well. It really does give a boost to the appetite.

Narmada - it sounds as though your DD is eating okay. If she is nibbling throughout the day and eating small meals, she's probably doing fine. They can eat a fair amount just through snacking without you realising. One of my DD's has never been a good eater in the morning - I still struggle to get much in her (she's 10 now). She's more of a lunchtime eater like her Dad.

Thanks fernie. I am trying to be reasonable about breakfast but just offering a bit of what I'm having before suggesting fruit. She had one bite of eggs, half a spoon of honey, and a clementine this am. Then about half a supermarket ciabatta from the "fresh" bread bit yesterday.

I am more concerned with recent levels of whinginess - she does something for a minute or 2 then is whining to watch TV or play on computer. Fair enough she does learn stuff from the things she watches but I am trying to reduce the amount of tv to a small amount after supper in the evening. She was grumbly for ages upstairs while I was dressing and tidying etc. and then came down and was fine after a few bites of bread. Then asked for yogurt, I said no it's lunchtime, presented her with lunch and she ate a mushroom then decided she didn't want anymore. I could feel my irritation level rising dangerously so I have put her to bed. She did say she was tired, but I just feel we wouldn't have all these problems if her appetite drove her to eat just a bit more at each sitting. She seems to eat just enough to get over her hunger pang. It is maddening!
