Clingy Behaviour in 5 year daughter

Our daughter has never really been a clingy child, she has been happy to spend time with me or her daddy.

This week, it has changed. I had put it down to her not being well and was off school and had been feeling grotty, so obviously I was with her all day but she also following me all over the house wouldn't let me out of her sight for long. But she won't go near her dad at all and just cries.

Thinking back, we think it actually started the night I went to college (I'm doing an evening class and have to leave before bed time to get there on time), apparently she kept asking for me but went to bed ok tho kept needing reassurance. If the weather is good they go for a scooter ride and have fun together. I have explained to her why I am going out at night. She went to school the next day ok, tho that night she wouldn't go for a bath unless I was there.

But since being unwell, it has got so much worse and she just won't stay or go near her daddy. He's being understanding but I think he might be hurt a bit as they've always been close.

I need to sort this fairly quickly as I have college next week.

What can I do ??

Thanks

Lots of cuddles, explaining, and I am affraid a bit of tough love too.
DD1 is like that too, very, VERY, independant generally but has her times when she must be always with me and only me, especially when ill.
I try to be understanding to help her voice her problem. Babied her a bit. Then, it has to stop going to school, or staying with her dad.
The more time she spend with him the more she will need him when ill. But you will always be her mum so don't expect it to be resolved entirely, I don't think there is anything you can do about that.
Don't let the "I won't do that until mum is here" start though, it is blackmail. Your DH must be tough on her on that. Explain why she can't wait to bath, eat, sleep... and tell her that she will have breakfast, games... whatever only with mum at a time you are in.
