My 19 month old only actually started walking about 3 or 4 weeks ago so shes not had much time to practice!. The HV was here weighing our new baby and mentioned that my daugher walks with her feet turned inwards and said at the moment just leave it but if shes still doing it in a few months I have to take her in to the clinic.

I have two older children who were running everywhere by this age!.

Has anyone else had this or know of amy reason for this?

DD started walking at 13 months. Her feet turned in. I read in a book (can't remember which one), that this is very common and nothing to worry about until about 24 months. AS the muscles strengthen most children's feet will straighten. I also read that even after 24 months nothing is done if the child can run OK. i.e. not tripping over constantly.

Having written all this, my DD was referred to orthopaedics at about 24 months because she turns one foot in more than the other and falls over all the time. She has hypermobility so her feet are very floppy and go in every possible direction when she runs.

Sorry, just seen your second post. It might still straighten out, but if it doesn't over the next few months then a visit to the GP might be sensible. DD's orthopaedic consultant did not actually do anything at the last appointment. We go back again in January (when she will be 2.9) to see if orthotic inserts will be required.

My DD has hypermobility and runs with her feet turned in. She used to walk like this but has got better and now only does it when she gets tired. I believe it is because of her hip joints. She has physio and it is something they are keeping an eye on to make sure it doesn't get worse and need correction. She's 3 yrs now.

I also have several friends whose children in-toe when they walk in quite a pronounced way and both have been told it doesn't need treatment.
